Second store as flooring group expands
An enterprising couple from Worcestershire are opening their second retail store as their business shrugs off the effects of the recession.
The Bespoke Home and Floor Company (http://www.bespokeflooring.com/">www.bespokeflooring.com) has already notched up a stream of orders both at its first showroom in Stratford Road, Shirley and on the Internet. Now it is expanding with a new store in Sutton Coldfield.
The store is on 297 Lichfield Road in Mere Green Sutton Coldfield and directors Derek and Diane Betts say the combination of the high quality, German-sourced products they offer along with an excellent location in the affluent town should help that success repeat itself.
The opening will take place on 14.10.09 just days after the team return from hopefully a successful second visit to the Grand Designs show at the NEC.
Derek Betts said: “We are very excited to be opening a second store and are confident that even in these challenging times, this outlet will be just as successful as our first.
“The state of the housing market means that although fewer people are currently moving, those who choose to stay where they are will now look at upgrading their homes.
“More and more people recognise that a good quality floor is the foundation to their home and are prepared to invest in something of quality backed by a cast-iron guarantee.
“Everything we sell is fully traceable and the standards we employ meet or exceed the requirements of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. Many of the current quality criteria are extremely exacting and rightly so. Sustainability has to start at home.”
In addition to domestic premises, the Bespoke Home and Floor Company has a growing base of commercial and leisure industry clients, as well as small developers and self-builders.
The team offers advice on a range of flooring problems and issues, from dealing with flood damage to deciding if underfloor heating is suitable for a particular home, and undertakes sanding, sealing and restoration work.
Nor does the story stop there. The Bespoke Home and Floor Company is currently looking to expand and is actively searching for additional shop premises within the Worcestershire and Oxfordshire areas.

Easter event offers low-down on the floor
Householders looking for advice on all things to do with floors can take advantage of a weekend full of free workshops from the experts over Easter.
The Bespoke Home and Floor Company (http://www.bespokeflooring.com/">www.bespokeflooring.com) is also offering visitors to its showroom in Stratford Road, Shirley the chance to enter a free prize draw for two day passes to the luxurious Wildmoor Spa in Stratford-on-Avon.
On both Good Friday and Saturday there will be one-hour sessions on:
- The benefits of under-floor heating
- Sanding, sealing and restoration work
- The best ways to clean an existing floor.
Director Derek Betts said: “Traditionally, retailers use Easter as an opportunity to run cut-price promotions but this is our chance to do something that has more long-term value for our customers. We pride ourselves on the levels of expertise within our business and are looking to share that.
“Many people are looking at solid floors but have questions they want to ask. For example, under-floor heating is becoming more popular but how exactly do you go about this, what are the cost implications and how reliable is it? We will provide answers to all of the questions our customers and potential customers have.
“And if anyone has a particular question to ask that is not covered by these topics, they are welcome to come in and talk it through over a drink and a bite to eat. No booking is necessary; just come along.”
